Following the success of this blockbuster, Ubisoft quickly revived the project Beyond Good and Evil 2 with the hope of creating another hit. However, as of now, Beyond Good and Evil 2 remains a distant dream for fans of the series.
First introduced and confidently announced by Ubisoft since 2008, the title Beyond Good and Evil 2 has yet to materialize, with “potential” still being a distant goal. However, it has been 17 years since then, and the game is still in development.
It seems that not many outside of dedicated fans of the Beyond Good and Evil series are aware of this blockbuster. And I must admit, just recently, the name Beyond Good and Evil 2 has once again been mentioned.
This prolonged delay in the release of the game isn’t just due to its developmental stage; a Ubisoft employee has publicly shared the reasons behind the lengthy time frame. The budget and financial issues are not the main reasons but rather the disagreements among the project team members. The technical director continuously wants to revamp the content, while the game director aims to create a game in the style of Dungeon like Diablo 4, whereas others envision Beyond Good and Evil 2 as a space exploration adventure. After 17 years, these disagreements have yet to be resolved, which is a significant reason for this game’s ongoing delay.
According to Ubisoft, Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still in the development process, and it is not just a “ghost project.” As for how long this development will take and when it will be released, no one can provide a definitive answer. This game is also set to become the title with the longest development process in history.
