With the fierce competition among eSports genres today, it is not surprising that long-standing online games like World of Warcraft have faced a significant decline in their player base. This is the primary reason why Blizzard has been quite secretive about the player count for World of Warcraft on various information platforms.
However, recently, the Chinese version of World of Warcraft has announced some good news for its dedicated players. This is attributed to the success of the Warcraft movie in China, which has significantly boosted the player count of World of Warcraft. According to estimates, after the release of the Warcraft movie, the number of players in China increased by an additional 200,000.
Among the 200,000 new players, a significant portion chose to align with the Horde faction, specifically the Orc race, rather than the Alliance faction of the humans. This indicates that the Orc race has captured the audience’s interest more effectively than the human Alliance.
Currently, some servers of World of Warcraft in China are facing overload due to the influx of new players. Many Chinese game developers believe that this is a strong indication that the World of Warcraft phenomenon is regaining its footing after a significant decline due to the rising trend of MOBA games.
