Recently, the Twitter account for Netflix’s One Piece announced the first images of its live-action adaptation, while also revealing a release schedule for the series.
So, what intriguing details can we find in the new images for the One Piece live-action series produced by Netflix? Let’s explore below!
1. The Going Merry’s Sail Looks Similar to the Manga Version

Until now, the characters in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece have only been seen from behind.
However, we have glimpsed some broad views of the Going Merry. The sail looks quite similar to its manga and anime counterparts.
Nevertheless, there are still some differences that keen-eyed fans may notice.
2. Luffy’s Iconic Straw Hat is Missing in the Images

At first glance, the sail of the Going Merry looks very much like it does in the anime version. However, upon closer inspection, Luffy in the Netflix image is seen… wearing shoes. While typically, Luffy is known for going barefoot.

It seems that after “making an appearance,” the young Going Merry has been given shoes to appear more fashionable.
3. The Essence of the Going Merry is Still Preserved

In the official images of the One Piece live-action adaptation, the symbol on the Going Merry has not changed, still appearing as it did in the original work. The logo on the sail maintains its iconic cross design, with the Going Merry symbol closely associated with Luffy.
Previously, there were speculations that the Going Merry’s symbol would be altered for this live-action version. Especially since the “exterior” of the Going Merry does not resemble what we know from the manga. However, the representation of the Going Merry’s symbol still looks like what we have known up until now.
4. The Appearance of the News Coo Bird

On the poster for the One Piece live-action series, a Weather Bird appears. Notably, it has a somewhat unique design with a straw hat on its head. It is known that these Weather Birds in One Piece are the News Coo birds. They are responsible for delivering news across the vast world of One Piece, including the Global Economic Times (the news source within the One Piece universe).
