In a summer movie season marked by “failures,” almost all of the products from Hollywood studios have not met expectations, with one exception: animated films. From “Zootopia” to this year’s “The Angry Birds Movie” and “Finding Dory”, animated films are indeed the mainstay for filmmakers to generate revenue this summer.
In fact, 4 out of the top 10 highest-grossing movies in the U.S. so far in 2016 are animated films. And this trend is likely to continue with the release of “The Secret Life of Pets” by Universal Pictures set to debut on July 8.
