Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kevin Hart continue to make waves with audiences as they collaborate in the new release, Central Intelligence. This action-comedy blockbuster has grossed over $80 million worldwide, currently ranking 10th on the all-time box office list for the comedy-action genre since 1980 (according to data from Box Office Mojo).
Not just the characters Bob Stone and Calvin Joyner in the film, but both Kevin Hart and The Rock also share fond memories of their school days, reminiscing about their experiences back in high school during a recent interview. In a light-hearted discussion, “little Hart” and “big Johnson” shared their nostalgic moments and honest reflections about their acting careers.
Kevin Hart commented: “In 9th grade, I really wanted to join the basketball team. But the practice time was 6 AM, and my house was a bit far from the school. If I wanted to make it on time, I would have to leave at 4 AM. Although I was determined, I didn’t want my mother to drive me to school so early, so I ended up sleeping in.”
The Rock jokingly mentioned that he wasn’t so lucky to have made it “in time for a shot” but humorously recalled a time when he was mistaken for a police officer at the age of 15, due to his muscular build and resemblance to an undercover cop. He had quite a troublesome incident that day, leading to the police showing up to his school looking for him. “It was a crazy day!” – The Rock reminisced.
According to Kevin Hart, The Rock is someone who always looks out for others, and when he is around, he feels safe. “In dangerous situations, Dwayne Johnson will always be by your side, while I won’t be afraid,” Hart shared. When asked if there was a “small joke” that The Rock would take lightly on set, he replied: “There’s no way to joke around. It’s either you have the guts or you don’t. My role in the film is just to support The Rock, so he can shine in front of the audience in a safe environment.” Both actors acknowledged the necessity of collaboration and respect on set, creating a unique dynamic for Central Intelligence.
Central Intelligence is currently being screened in theaters nationwide.
