Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe officially kicked off with the release of Captain America: Civil War during the blockbuster summer of 2016. All Marvel films from now until 2018 will focus on building up to a major climax in Avengers: Infinity War, where our superheroes will face the greatest threat in the universe – Thanos.
There have been many rumors and speculations from die-hard fans regarding the plot of Avengers: Infinity War, but Marvel has yet to officially confirm anything. However, recently, the website lrmonline revealed some information about the main storyline of Avengers: Infinity War.
According to sources from lrmonline, this main storyline will not differ significantly from the original comic series, Infinity Gauntlet, that Marvel published before. In the film, Thanos will be seen collecting all six Infinity Stones, even though this endeavor seems increasingly difficult given the circumstances.
The purpose of Thanos collecting all these Infinity Stones is to eliminate half the universe and “court” Death, who is depicted as a beautiful female character in the comics. Death will indeed appear in Avengers: Infinity War.
Thanos’s quest to collect all six Infinity Stones and wield them in his gauntlet will have significant implications for our hero Vision, who may have to sacrifice his life because Vision is a robot powered by the energy of the Mind Gem embedded in his forehead.
In reality, the storyline is not causing too much confusion among Marvel fans as it has been speculated extensively beforehand. However, one point that has drawn significant audience attention is the character Hela, the Goddess of Death from Thor: Ragnarok, and whether she is the same as Death in Avengers: Infinity War.
In the original comic, these are two distinct characters, and it can be understood that Death exists in a completely different realm compared to Hela. However, in a previous statement, a Marvel representative indicated that they would find ways to ensure that the audience does not get confused when encountering these two characters as the same entity. It is highly likely that they will merge into one female character.
Thus, the connection between Thor: Ragnarok next year and Avengers: Infinity War will revolve around the character Hela, differing from the original source material where Thanos interacts with Death (also depicted in the film).
Avengers: Infinity War is set to be released on May 4, 2018.
