Mark Millar is one of the most prominent figures in the superhero comic book community in the US, as he has not only been a prolific writer but has also been involved in various blockbuster film adaptations in Hollywood. Some of the notable titles he has been associated with include Kick-Ass, Kingsman: The Secret Service, and most recently, Civil War.
Recently, on his personal Twitter account, Mark Millar revealed some exciting information about the film project based on the character Superior (from Icon Comics, which has since been acquired by Marvel). Surprisingly, the name of the leading actor was disclosed as… the one and only John Cena.

If you’re not familiar, Superior is a comic book series focusing on a 12-year-old boy who was once a sports star but fell ill and had to give up his dreams. This young boy is quite enamored with a comic book character named Superior, and at one point, he is miraculously transformed into a superhero himself.
In 2011, the rights to Superior were purchased by Matthew Vaughn, who has also adapted many of Millar’s works like Kick-Ass and Kingsman: The Secret Service.

However, the silence surrounding the project lingered after the initial announcement until 2014, when Fox confirmed its rights to the brand and officially designated Vaughn as the producer. Fans of the comic can be excited that Superior is indeed being adapted into a film. Earlier this year, Fox also confirmed that Brandon Murphy and Phillip Murphy would be tasked with writing the screenplay for the film.
Millar’s recent Twitter posts have hinted strongly at John Cena, the WWE superstar famously known for his catchphrase “You can’t see me,” potentially playing the lead role in the film.

Meanwhile, another notable WWE star, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, has successfully transitioned into film and has been confirmed to star as Black Adam in the superhero film Shazam.
If John Cena joins the cast, it could highlight a trend where prominent WWE personalities are making their mark in the film industry, especially after witnessing their peers like The Rock thrive in this entertainment sphere. This scenario is indeed likely, particularly as John Cena is set to take on a superhero role, potentially marking a significant moment in his career.
