Last weekend, Lionsgate released the official trailer for John Wick: Chapter 2, the sequel to the action-packed film that first hit theaters in 2014. Shortly after the trailer’s release, during an interview with Collider, director Chad Stahelski revealed that his team is currently working hard to prepare for… the upcoming third installment.
Stahelski mentioned that it is still too early to speculate on whether John Wick will be joined by other characters in his revenge saga. However, the studio has already given the green light for the next installment. This indicates that the studio, along with the other members of the production team, is very optimistic, and they are confident that John Wick: Chapter 2 will be a success.
“Ian McShane’s character, Winston, will play a significant role in the next installment, and Lance Reddick will also be involved. We have a few more ideas in mind too.”
It’s not too surprising that these two characters will continue to appear in future films. McShane, as Winston, the owner of the exclusive hotel where all assassins meet, and Reddick, who plays the concierge, have both made a strong impression on audiences alongside star Keanu Reeves, contributing to the rich narrative that embodies the rules of the assassin underworld.
Additionally, John Wick: Chapter 2 will introduce numerous new characters that we have yet to learn about. All will be revealed when the film is released on February 10, 2017.
