Last week, the latest work by actor Ben Affleck, titled The Accountant (Vietnamese title: Mật Danh: Kế Toán), kicked off with impressive success by securing the number one spot at the North American box office.
The Accountant brought in over $24.7 million within just the first two days of its release, earning an “A-” rating on CinemaScore and a 51% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. In Vietnam, the film received quite a bit of positive feedback from audiences through traditional media outlets.
In the film, Ben Affleck plays a young man with autism who, despite struggling with social interactions, possesses an extraordinary ability to concentrate, often more so than a typical person. This unique trait allows him to become a genius in the field of accounting and even work for some of the world’s most dangerous criminals, while still being able to withdraw safely afterward (in contrast to other accountants who might get killed for starting a new job).
With the positive comments and high ratings from audiences, it’s likely that The Accountant will continue to dominate box office revenues in the upcoming two weeks. This solid performance indicates a significant success for the film, especially considering that the production cost was only about $16 million, while the ticket sales in the opening week already surpassed the production expenses.
Currently, the second position on the box office chart this week is held by the comedy film starring Kevin Hart: What Now? However, this film has not achieved the same level of success, as it only grossed $11.9 million in its opening week.
Additionally, the other rankings on the North American box office chart did not see significant changes over the past weekend.
