Meta “Dying” Makes T1 Super Star “Hate” It
In the late 2024 – early 2025 period, one of the frequently played meta strategies in many games is the Jayce Tanker for the Top Lane position. This playstyle was creatively utilized by Flandre during his ranked matches and later applied during the Demacia Cup recently. The strategy quickly became a “dying” meta and was adopted by many players such as Bin, Kiin, and Doran… in ranked play.

However, not everyone is fond of this meta. Recently, Doran – the newly joined super star of T1 – expressed his thoughts on the current “dying” meta in League of Legends: “Who thought of putting Jayce in a tank role? I don’t just criticize other players, but putting Jayce in a tank seems a bit unimaginative, doesn’t it?”

Doran’s observation immediately attracted a lot of attention. It’s not just because the Jayce Tanker meta is currently being applied, but Doran himself is a Top Lane player and Jayce is one of his favorite champions. Since his debut until now, Doran has used Jayce 42 times, achieving an impressive win rate of around 62%.

The “Dying” Meta Might Actually Be a Little Beneficial for T1
In reality, Doran could also play very well in tank roles that contribute significantly to the team. Therefore, it cannot be said that the Jayce Tanker meta will hinder this team. However, with Doran, if Jayce has to be put in a tank role, it will both reduce his effectiveness as a damage dealer and make him less desirable as a champion choice.

Moreover, with the experience of Doran and T1’s playstyle, Jayce Tank could also be a good choice in situations where T1 faces challenges and needs to adapt. When that happens, Doran will also need to be flexible to fit into the right situations, as he has always shown in many recent seasons.
