Is Minecraft 2 Set to Release Soon?
As of now, Minecraft has become one of the most popular game franchises worldwide. Few people know that this iconic game was initially developed from the idea of a single programmer, Markus “Notch” Persson, who released the demo version of the game in 2009.

After more than a decade of dominating the gaming landscape, Notch recently hinted on his personal X page that he is actively involved in the development of the next installment in the game series – Minecraft 2. Although he no longer directly oversees the project since passing creative control to Jens Bergensten after leaving Mojang due to Microsoft’s acquisition of the company, his influence remains significant.
What Makes Minecraft 2 Special?
At this point, Notch’s confirmation is primarily a suggestion, but this decision is not taken lightly. Previously, he conducted a survey with over 3.6 million respondents, receiving community support for the development of the second game installment.

According to Notch, Minecraft 2 will be designed in the style of traditional roguelike games, similar to titles like Ancient Domains of Mystery (ADOM) and NetHack, combined with exploration mechanics reminiscent of first-person games such as Legend of Grimrock and Eye of the Beholder.
Notch himself acknowledges the potential controversies that Minecraft 2 could evoke, particularly regarding concerns that the game might not replicate the success of the original Minecraft. He emphasizes that the goal is not merely to replicate the original’s success but to creatively transform Minecraft 2 into a masterpiece while maintaining its innovative spirit.
