Two years ago, Ouija (released in Vietnam as “Trò Chơi Gọi Hồn”) became a phenomenon in the horror genre, surprising many by turning a modest production budget of only $5 million into a staggering box office success of up to $103 million. With its investment in script development and sound quality, along with deeply immersive cinematography, Ouija managed to deliver a truly immersive and spine-chilling experience for audiences, without sacrificing substance.
Continuing its success, this Halloween season, Universal has brought audiences the next installment titled Ouija: Origin of Evil (released in Vietnam as “Trò Chơi Gọi Hồn 2”). Set fifty years in the past, viewers will once again witness terrifying occurrences.
A family, consisting of a mother and her two daughters, unwittingly becomes embroiled in a supernatural business while conducting fraudulent séances. When the youngest daughter becomes possessed by a malevolent spirit, the family must confront horrifying apparitions in an attempt to save her. Will they succeed in exorcising the evil spirit and restoring their daughter to reality?
The film features a talented cast, including Annalise Basso, a rising star, along with Lulu Wilson (Deliver Us from Evil), who plays the role of the youngest daughter possessed by the malevolent spirit.
Ouija: Origin of Evil is produced by Platinum Dunes, in collaboration with Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form (“The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”, “The Purge” series, “Ninja Turtles”). Jason Blum from Blumhouse Productions (“The Purge”, “Insidious” series) is also involved, alongside Brian Goldner from Hasbro (the “Transformers” series and the “G.I. Joe” series) and Stephen Davis (from “Ouija: Origin of Evil”). The film is directed and co-written by Mike Flanagan, together with Jeff Howard, who previously collaborated with him on “Oculus” and “Before I Wake”.
The film is set to premiere on October 28, 2016, in Vietnam.
