Not every mutant can possess the incredible abilities of Wolverine or Cyclops, Gambit, and many others. There are numerous X-Men in this world whose powers are often overlooked (or perhaps underrated) but can contribute significantly in dire situations, especially when humanity is facing threats as severe as Apocalypse or Magneto.
Below, let’s take a look at some mutants with seemingly “useless” powers that hardly hold any value in intense battles against foes like Apocalypse or Magneto.
1. ANGEL / WARREN WORTHINGTON III
Angel is one of the mutants that has left a lasting impression on audiences worldwide with his angelic wings. It is indeed hard to believe that he made this list. However, you must know that this mutant possesses a power that is not particularly useful in combat—flying. While initially, when there weren’t many mutants with extraordinary abilities dominating the skies, Angel held his own. However, as more X-Men like Storm, Phoenix, and Rogue emerged, with their powers not reliant on physical traits like wings, Angel’s usefulness began to dwindle.

Thus, if we consider Angel’s main power of flight, it is not as beneficial as one might think. In the early days when fewer mutants possessed aerial capabilities, Angel was indeed a significant player. But as more powerful X-Men emerged, his potential became less impactful.
2. EYE-SCREAM
If you love ice cream, especially during the scorching summer heat, then the X-Men mutant named Eye-Scream will be your favorite.

Eye-Scream has the ability to melt himself and transform into a delicious ice cream cone on the ground. In battle or during stealth operations, this mutant would have to hope that his creamy form wouldn’t catch the enemy’s attention.
3. LONGNECK
Longneck is a rather peculiar mutant who possesses the ability of an elongated neck. As a result of this unique trait, he can observe every angle around him, ensuring no one can sneak up on him from behind.

However, this long neck is also a major weakness, as he has to carry it around 24/7. Imagine the danger if someone were to wield a knife; Longneck would be in a precarious position.
4. SKIN / ANGELO ESPINOSA
Angelo Espinosa possesses the ability to stretch his skin, allowing him to take on a form similar to Mr. Fantastic. However, he lacks the same combat usefulness.

In essence, Skin/Angelo fights by “grabbing” a portion of his skin and throwing it at his opponent, hoping that it will leave them stunned long enough for him to escape. This truly is a rather ‘safe’ technique if you don’t want to be labeled as “useless.”
5. JAZZ / JOHN ZANDER
Another unique mutant bears the name of a music genre played by millions worldwide—Jazz. However, this mutant’s power is not particularly favored.

Jazz has the ability to change his appearance like Mystique, but his unique ability is limited to merely changing his skin color to a blue shade, without altering his facial features or body shape.
