The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare recently released a graphic image of the Moon Goddess as part of a campaign to combat sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including diseases such as syphilis and HIV/AIDS.
In recent years, sexually transmitted infections have become a growing concern in Japanese society. Back in the 1990s, Sankei News reported that there were only about 1,000 reported cases of STIs, but by October of this year, that number had surged to 3,284 individuals.

To address the alarming rise in STIs, the Ministry of Health has initiated a public awareness campaign featuring the Moon Goddess, alongside educational content on safe sexual practices. The slogan associated with this campaign is “Please take care of these matters, or I will be forced to intervene!” or “If you are not careful, I will have to take action!”
This campaign aims to reach young women and teenage girls to help raise awareness and educate them on how to protect themselves.
