One of the darkest moments in Superman’s history is undoubtedly when he destroys the city of Metropolis in the first film that set the stage for the DC cinematic universe in 2013 – Man of Steel.

In this scene, Superman, along with his adversary General Zod (played by Michael Shannon), engages in a fierce battle. The outcome of this confrontation results in widespread destruction in Metropolis, a moment that left Batman feeling quite “pale” in comparison to this extraterrestrial powerhouse.

At the time, both were manipulated by a character named Sleez, a minion of Darkseid, who found a way to exploit Superman’s vulnerability in a VHS tape and sent it to Mister Miracle. Although this was merely an act of manipulation, Superman likely regrets this incident immensely.

Superman Once Assaulted the Spirit of a Person Named Jimmy Olsen

In Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, we see a significant difference between the combat styles of Batman and Superman. Batman represents the darkness with his harsh, uncompromising methods against crime.

However, there was one instance where Superman acted quite harshly when Jimmy Olsen was endowed with powers similar to Aquaman. Superman then set up a “competition” to see who could swim farther when deprived of water. Not only did he not hold back, but he also forced Olsen to drink the water off his own paper.

In reality, Superman did this because he knew that Olsen was actually Captain Bane in disguise, yet still, this behavior is quite uncharacteristic of Superman.
