The Maze Runner series has become a significant milestone in the history of successful adaptations from teen novels to film. This franchise has attracted millions of viewers worldwide with its adventurous and thrilling storyline. However, earlier this year, the film community was deeply concerned when the lead actor, Dylan O’Brien, suffered a severe accident during filming, leading to an indefinite halt in production for “Maze Runner: The Death Cure”.
Recently, 20th Century Fox officially announced that Dylan is currently on the road to recovery, and the production of this much-anticipated film will continue. The official release date for the movie has been set for January 12, 2018, nearly a year later than the initial schedule for “Maze Runner: The Death Cure” (originally set for February 17, 2017).
Dylan O’Brien’s representative stated: “Dylan is on the road to recovery and is very eager to return to work as soon as he is ready. As soon as he is fit to return, we will ensure he is supported in every way possible to continue his work smoothly.”
As with the previous installments of this series, “Maze Runner: The Death Cure” is directed by Wes Ball, with a screenplay by T.S. Nowlin, based on the popular book series by author James Dashner. The film will continue to follow the storyline established in “The Maze Runner” (2014) and “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” (2015), featuring talented actors such as Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Rosa Salazar, Ki Hong Lee, and Dexter Darden.
If this release schedule holds, “Maze Runner: The Death Cure” will premiere simultaneously with “Gnomeo & Juliet,” the latest installment in the animated series “Sherlock Gnomes,” as well as another “secret” project from Fox.
