Dragon Ball Daima has premiered its first episode on Friday, October 11, receiving a warm welcome from the public, particularly fans of the work by Akira Toriyama. The release of this new anime marks a significant return of Goku after a six-year hiatus from the global screen.
In Dragon Ball Daima, Goku and the Z Fighters confront new enemies from the Demon Realm.
The three new recurring characters are King Gomah, Degesu, and Arinsu (the youngest siblings of Kaioshin). They hail from the Demon Realm, the origin of the demon Dabura, and the sorcerers Babidi and Bibidi, even involving Piccolo. Daima also confirms that the Namekian character has roots from this mysterious land.
Besides introducing new characters, the success of the Dragon Ball Daima series lies in its resolution of many issues and shortcomings that Dragon Ball Super faced.
Firstly, it addresses animation quality. If we recall the first episode of Dragon Ball Super or the initial saga “Battle of the Gods,” we might remember Goku’s face being difficult to recognize due to the animation style.
To resolve this issue, Toei Animation has brought back Yoshitaka Yashima, the animation director closely associated with the historical revival of the franchise.

Failed confrontations and many memories in Dragon Ball
One of the unclear aspects of Dragon Ball Super is the character Kibitoshin—the fusion of Kibito and Kaioshin, which was split apart by the evil wizard. However, given that Kaioshin is a higher deity than the Dragon God, the reasons for the split seem less significant.

Now, Dragon Ball Daima logically interprets this issue better. In the context of the Majin Buu saga, when the evil being absorbed Gogeta and Goku fought alongside Vegeta, it turns out that Buu absorbed Kibitoshin, and the energies within Buu helped to separate from the Potara earrings’ fusion ability.
Another significant achievement in the first episode of Dragon Ball Daima is the introduction of a new storyline that is not overly reliant on nostalgia. It has provided a space to summarize the history of the Z Fighters, introducing new characters while retaining all their distinct traits and personalities. From now on, Daima will allow for new adventures to unfold until the end.
