As Dragon Ball commemorates its 40th anniversary since the release of the iconic manga by Akira Toriyama in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, the brand is expanding with several new announcements aimed at kicking off a fresh era. This includes the launch of Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, a new game that serves as both a sequel and the first interaction for those who have never played this game series before.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero features a new gameplay mode, separated into distinct What If? storylines. However, this change diverges significantly from the main storyline, allowing fans to witness alternate outcomes involving characters achieving victories in battles that were not predetermined. This shows how different each scenario can be with just slight modifications.
One of the major changes involves Frieza, who could potentially become the strongest warrior in the universe, significantly more so than previously known, after defeating Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Goku and Vegeta during events from the Resurrection F arc of the series.

How Frieza Becomes the Strongest Warrior in Dragon Ball
In Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, players can dramatically alter the outcome involving Frieza in the Resurrection F arc. Instead of being defeated by Goku and Vegeta as in the original events, players can choose to have Frieza defeat both Saiyans using his Golden Frieza form. When Frieza is about to eliminate both Saiyan warriors and destroy the Earth to execute his revenge, Beerus intervenes. Beerus does not want Frieza to destroy the Earth because the God of Destruction has a fondness for it, and therefore demands that Frieza retract his revenge plan.
Recognizing his newfound strength, Frieza, realizing the potential threats he could face, decides not to destroy the Earth, complying with Beerus’s conditions. Frieza then becomes recognized as the strongest warrior in Universe 7 alongside Beerus. Later on, Frieza does not only aim to use the vast power he’s acquired but also asks Beerus to steer clear of any business dealings in his future conquests. Two conditions that Beerus does not care about as he does not intend to monitor Frieza’s return.
Frieza’s Newfound Power Shakes the Dragon Ball Universe
This development continues to shake the timeline of Dragon Ball even further, as Beerus acknowledges Frieza’s strength, compelling the God of Destruction to request his participation in the Tournament of Power on behalf of Universe 7. Frieza agrees only under strict conditions that he can select his own team, preventing Goku and others from interfering in the selection of his team.
This leads to the emergence of potential allies that Frieza could recruit for the tournament, such as Cooler, King Cold, Zarbon, Dodoria, or the Ginyu Force. Regardless of the path taken, Frieza would eventually confront Jiren and secure a victory in the Tournament of Power for Universe 7, continuing on his path of revenge.
Ultimately, Frieza is now recognized as the strongest warrior in the Dragon Ball narrative. Prior to the events of the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero arc, it has been revealed that Frieza has been training tirelessly for several years in a Hyperbolic Time Chamber he discovered in space, aiming to become the mightiest being. His newly unveiled form “Black Frieza” is a result of this rigorous training, allowing him to swiftly defeat Goku and Vegeta without encountering any obstacles.
With Akira Toriyama’s ongoing series, the Dragon Ball Super manga has yet to reveal Frieza’s next steps, as he is currently the strongest character in the universe. Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero may eventually explore what this might entail, with the potential for new dynamics that Frieza will have with the divine beings now that he has achieved such divine-level power.
