Akira Toriyama passed away in March 2024, causing the ongoing Dragon Ball Super series to face immediate suspension. It seems that the storyline will never be revisited, as the creator’s absence leaves the entire franchise in a state of uncertainty, including some of the best anime moments from past to present that have become irreplaceable.
However, we have solid confirmations that the events will not be entirely over, as Toyotaro, the illustrator for Dragon Ball Super, along with Akira, has mentioned that there might be a possibility to revisit the storyline.

Toyotaro shared with Weekly Dragon Ball News: “The battle against the Moro arc has been completed, and I am very pleased with the outcome. However, I won’t return to that! I intend to continue introducing more exciting battles to engage fans. Therefore, I hope everyone will continue to support my work.”
The point that Toyotaro emphasizes is the list of the best battles of Goku, which has been showcased in a program organized by Victory Uchiha of V-Jump. Naturally, the subsequent mention is the most reassuring, as Toyotaro clearly stated that he has not used everything yet and will continue to devise exciting battles for Goku and the Z warriors.
With the announcement of a new Dragon Ball anime on the horizon, the spotlight will inevitably return to Dragon Ball Super, as many are speculating whether this manga series will see a revival. We still do not know when these new battles will be revealed.
Dragon Ball Super has been paused at chapter 103 as of March, with the last published chapter wrapping up the Super Hero arc of the manga. This chapter was released shortly after the news of Toriyama’s passing, and following the publication, Shueisha has confirmed that the manga series is currently on hold. Now, fans will have to wait a suitable time for the Dragon Ball Super manga to return.
The upcoming release of Dragon Ball Daima seems to be a good point in time, but currently, it remains a speculation. However, the essence of Dragon Ball under the guidance of Akira Toriyama will be a lasting impression.
