Jujutsu Kaisen Takes a Major Step Forward in the Final Showdown with Yuji’s Defeat of Sukuna in Chapter 267
This outcome has been a long time coming, especially since the main character, the King of Curses, has been dormant within Yuji since Chapter 264 of Jujutsu Kaisen.
The defeat of Sukuna involves the collaboration of many characters, starting with Gojo, the sorcerer who has engaged in battles with numerous formidable opponents, resulting in the deaths of several main characters, including fan favorites like Gojo and Choso.
After Gojo’s death, Sukuna seemed nearly invincible for a prolonged period. Not only did surprise attacks become ineffective against him, but he also maintained a state of superiority after reclaiming his physical form. Moreover, Sukuna has taken Megumi as his pawn after seizing control of his body.
However, Chapter 267 of Jujutsu Kaisen reveals a strategic plan to counter Sukuna’s murderous rampage from the very beginning.
The sorcerers are aware of the impending danger should Gojo fail, and they have devised a backup strategy. One of the key elements is Yuta’s utilization of Gojo’s technique, which caused a stir among the readers but did not yield many results.
The most significant plan has been revealed in this latest chapter. In Chapter 267, the readers witness both Yuta and Gojo brainstorming while training to swap their physical forms. At this point, Gojo is in Yuta’s body, and vice versa.

Yuta requests Gojo to prepare for Sukuna’s final finger, allowing Rika to absorb it and replicate Sukuna’s technique, Idle Death Gamble. However, Gojo refuses the request, reminding Yuta that merely taking Sukuna’s final finger may not suffice to fully analyze the information regarding the Idle Death Gamble technique.
The strategy of the sorcerer team is to enable Yuta to consume Yuji’s fingers to replicate the Idle Death Gamble technique, as there exists a “Connection” (the physical form of Yuji has been inscribed with Sukuna’s techniques). Additionally, there is also the challenge of concealing Sukuna’s final finger—a Grade S cursed object that serves as the ultimate pawn.

Nobara (the character who has been presumed dead for a long time) unexpectedly reappears, using the Connection on Sukuna’s final finger. The King of Curses’ form trembles after being struck by Nobara’s Connection, leaving him unable to utilize his full power.

Immediately, Yuji does not allow Sukuna any time to recover, launching a Black Flash technique into Sukuna’s spirit. After a moment of intense struggle against Sukuna’s defenses, Yuji successfully lands a critical Black Flash, turning the tide of the battle. Thus, the long-awaited confrontation with Sukuna has reached its climax.
Chapter 267 concludes here, marked by the editor’s commentary: “The end of a long battle.” This implies that the confrontation with Sukuna is indeed nearing its conclusion, and the Shinjuku Showdown arc is also set to wrap up soon.
This indicates that the story is approaching its final chapters before the conclusion of Jujutsu Kaisen, which is expected to end on September 30, 2024. However, before that, be sure to check out the next official chapter, set to be released on August 25.
