“Dragon Ball is the best anime of all time,” a statement that is not just a personal opinion but is backed by recent financial reports from Toei Animation, which frequently reveals the success of Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball.
This assertion is evident from the financial figures reported by Toei Animation, showing that anime continues to thrive in the ongoing fiscal year. Notably, Dragon Ball has made a significant impact, even as it competes with One Piece, which has been the top-grossing anime franchise for Toei Animation.

Dragon Ball recorded a net profit of 5.67 billion yen, equivalent to approximately 39 million USD, while One Piece followed closely with a net profit of 5.54 billion yen, roughly 38 million USD.
The competition between Dragon Ball and One Piece is quite intense, especially since we are discussing profits from the same company, Toei Animation.

Dragon Ball stands out despite not having released a new anime in six years, following the conclusion of the Tournament of Power arc in 2018. Nevertheless, it continues to secure the top position in revenue for Toei Animation. Audiences have only seen the two recent animated movies: Dragon Ball Super: Broly and Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
Meanwhile, One Piece is still progressing into its Final Saga, with a live-action film produced by Netflix that has received positive reviews.
