Character of Gon Freecss in Hunter x Hunter
Hunter x Hunter is a series focused on various “hunters” in the manga, but Gon Freecss has been a central figure throughout most of the series. Unfortunately, the young boy has not been active in the manga series for a prolonged period. Part of this is due to the health issues of the creator, Yoshihiro Togashi, and part is due to the unfolding events in the storyline.
Despite Gon being considered “absent,” fans of the anime have not forgotten the son of Ging Freecss. Recently, new cosplay images of Gon have appeared on social media, once again showcasing his most iconic form through impressive portrayals.

In the battle against Neferpitou during the Chimera Ant arc of Hunter x Hunter, Gon reaches a critical point after witnessing Kite’s death and the dire need to confront the Chimera threat that has caused countless innocent lives to be lost. Gon had to unleash his ultimate card.
In a decisive moment, Gon used his Nen ability to forcefully mature himself. Aiming to tap into his full potential and unwavering strength, it allowed him to confront Neferpitou rapidly. This act left him in a severely weakened state, putting him at severe risk of losing his life. Furthermore, he may never be able to use Nen again.
In the recent manga chapters, during the Succession War arc, Kurapika has taken center stage in the battle for the throne of a distant kingdom. With Togashi still working slowly on the Hunter x Hunter manga, it remains uncertain when we might see Gon return to the story, as his arc is far from finished.
While the manga is currently releasing new chapters, Hunter x Hunter has not confirmed any news regarding a new anime adaptation in the future. The most recent anime was created by Studio Madhouse in 2011, although it has not yet covered certain storylines and battles depicted in the manga. Given the evolution of the shonen genre, a re-adaptation of the anime is highly likely to occur at some point in the future.
