For fans of Dragon Ball, it stands as one of the most influential stories of all time, and rightly so. Many decades ago, renowned manga artist Akira Toriyama introduced the main character, Son Goku, and the shonen genre has undergone significant transformations since then. Today, the series has achieved recognition among the best manga works, and this article highlights the involvement of the creator of Hunter x Hunter.
Recently, the Dragon Ball Super Gallery launched its latest installment, featuring the artistic talents of Yoshihiro Togashi. The Dragon Ball Super Gallery is a project that celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Dragon Ball series. This time, the artwork from Hunter x Hunter has been “recruited” to create a new cover for the Dragon Ball collection, and Yoshihiro has infused a fresh breeze into the cover of Chapter 5.

As illustrated above, the latest Dragon Ball artwork is quite remarkable. We see Goku in a vibrant green outfit, riding Bulma’s blue motorcycle. This image is inspired by a classic scene from the Dragon Ball series, yet Yoshihiro added his unique touch. Additionally, this new cover features Gon Freecss, the main character from Hunter x Hunter, which fits perfectly with the setting.
We cannot overlook the historical connection between Toriyama and Yoshihiro, as their mutual admiration holds great significance. Yoshihiro elaborated on the inspiration behind this piece in a personal message to fans:
“Regarding this image, I feel as though I am revisiting the days of old! Upon completion, I returned to reality and nearly cried, which is why I quickly revisited the Dragon Ball series before my eyes. Indeed, I am not joking. Toriyama-sensei is right here!!”
