As Arnie famously said, the Terminator has returned many times. Currently, the iconic symbol of this science fiction robot is involved in a new project, specifically the animated series Terminator Zero.
In collaboration with Netflix, this animated series may finally be the long-awaited continuation of the franchise, marking a fresh start.
Release Date of Terminator Zero
Terminator Zero is set to be released on August 29, 2024, exclusively on Netflix. This date is significant as it coincides with the judgment day referenced in Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
The production process began in February 2021, so fans have been eagerly awaiting a concrete release date for several years, with May 2024 marking the first official announcement for the series.
Who is behind this project?
Terminator Zero is being produced by Production IG and Skydance Television. Production IG is well-known for works such as Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Haikyuu!!, with Masashi Kudō, the famous character designer from Bleach and Tower of God, leading the design efforts.
Mattson Tomlin, the screenwriter for The Batman 2, is the showrunner and executive producer, promising a blend of anime and Western storytelling. The voice of the Terminator this time is provided by Timothy Olyphant, known for his roles in Justified and Deadwood.

What will happen in Terminator Zero?
Terminator Zero follows a detective tasked with infiltrating a scientific facility, Malcolm Lee, who is developing a Skynet prototype in 1997. However, a mysterious figure from 2022 constantly shadows him, making the mission increasingly complex.
The Malcolm family is under surveillance, and throughout the series, we see layers of what is happening unfold. As Malcolm comes from a leading AI company, there are undertones of a secret negotiation between them and Skynet.
A stealth drone hangs overhead, increasingly nearing Judgment Day. Sarah and John Connor have previously managed to thwart this event. Will these characters be able to do so again?
