The story revolves around Chihiro Rokuhira, whose peaceful life is shattered when his father is attacked and killed. Determined to seek revenge, he sets out to find mystical swords that were entrusted to him by his late father. The final sword that his father created transforms into a weapon that Chihiro intends to use to hunt down his father’s killers.
However, the enemies he faces are far more formidable than anyone he could have anticipated. Throughout the story, there are some interactions between Chihiro and his father, Kunishige, but they don’t reveal much about Chihiro’s character development. Essentially, Chihiro’s only family is his father, a master swordsmith known for his unique katana crafting techniques.
According to a popular Twitter/X account, Kagurabachi shared: “During the Japan Expo panel with Takeru-sensei, he was asked, ‘Is Chihiro’s mother alive?’. He replied that he would write about her in a future chapter. Therefore, this emphasizes the importance of the mother figure in the story.”
Prior to this information, fans were already speculating about the new character. One user commented: “I wonder who she is? She appears to be a decent character, but we don’t know much about her.”
Another fan added: “On Reddit and 4chan, everyone believes she is a soldier. Some think she is Hishaku, who appears in chapter 2, while others suggest she might be the character Enten, but no one considers that she could be Chihiro’s mother.”
