In the latest chapter of One Piece, readers are left with uncertainty regarding the fate of Monkey D. Luffy following the recent events. It remains unclear whether he is alive or has perished. Nonetheless, many fans are holding on to the hope that Monkey D. Garp is still alive since One Piece rarely leaves character fates unresolved. Chapter 1117 has raised suspicions about Garp’s status.
In this chapter, characters like Don Krieg, Gin, and Pearl make an appearance, yet Garp’s presence is notably absent despite numerous other characters showing up. The chapter is set in Hachinosu, but it does not give any hints about Garp’s situation.
The communication from Vegapunk is also utilized in this chapter. However, prior to the events, the scientist seemed to have direct interactions with individuals bearing the “D” in their names. Although Vegapunk’s fate remains uncertain, the manga continues to showcase significant characters with the “D” in their names, including Dragon and Trafalgar Law. Sabo appears in place of Luffy and Ace, while Bepo steps in for Trafalgar Law. In Garp’s case, this role is fulfilled by Koby.
The absence of Garp in this chapter could suggest two possibilities: either he is imprisoned on Hachinosu and unable to receive broadcasts, or he has died. The former seems more plausible, considering that One Piece does not typically kill off main characters.
There was a significant death in the Egghead arc, where Vegapunk was attacked by Saturn, one of the members of the Blackbeard Pirates. Thus, it seems unlikely that another key character like Garp would fall in the same arc. However, we will not know for certain until the manga clarifies Garp’s situation.
