VTV Exposes Serious Cybercrime Operations Utilizing Advanced Technology
Recently, nearly 60 suspects related to a sophisticated online scam were apprehended as they were arriving at Noi Bai Airport to celebrate the Lunar New Year after a year of operating in secrecy. This operation involved complex tactics that caused particularly severe consequences, raising significant public concern.


Prior to this, numerous online scams had infiltrated the public sector, with local police departments reporting urgent requests for updates on cybercrime activities. Victims of these scams reported losing funds, having their credentials compromised, and being subjected to identity theft. Despite continuous warnings from authorities, many individuals fell victim to these schemes.
According to law enforcement, from May 2024 to date, nearly 1,000 suspects have been identified across 13,000 reported cases nationwide. Among these, some individuals were found to have swindled amounts exceeding 12 billion VND.
Profile of a Young Scam Operator
Despite being only 25 years old, P.T.H.T has risen to a managerial position within a scam operation based in Cambodia. She has been responsible for translating messages for foreign clients, creating and modifying scam scripts to align with the psychological state and circumstances faced by Vietnamese citizens.



Reflecting on her actions, H.T stated, “After joining the company, I felt my life had changed drastically. I was rewriting scripts based on my manager’s instructions, and I felt detached from the reality… The scripts contained many details that corresponded to the mindset of the victims.”
Notably, this young woman became the focus of attention when her social media presence was highlighted, particularly her “rebranding” efforts that attracted considerable interest online. Viewers were shocked by her youthful appearance and talent, which she parlayed into illegal activities.
