Spy x Family debuted in 2019, which was five years after the release of the one-shot “Rengoku no Ashe.” As a one-shot, the story is quite brief and serves as a great introduction to the series.
The author has taken the character Ashe from their original work and adapted it into a richer version, which ultimately leads to the birth of Anya. Additionally, the name “Anya” is a fusion of the name Ashe and another character named Misha from another one-shot by Endo, titled “Ishi ni Usubeni,” released in 2017.
In essence, Endo combined Misha and Ashe into one character, and thus Anya was born.
In reality, the one-shot “Ishi ni Usubeni” is also quite enjoyable; it is brief and readers might appreciate it if they are fans of Spy x Family.
