Dragon Ball has introduced a hidden buff for Gohan’s Super Saiyan transformation, which holds significant importance considering the history of Super Saiyan forms up to the present day. The Dragon Ball franchise is currently celebrating its 40th anniversary since Akira Toriyama’s manga first debuted in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, and fans have been eagerly anticipating a number of Dragon Ball projects recently.
One of the major projects is Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, which offers a new way to explore the characters of Dragon Ball.
This project allows fans to delve deeper and expand on aspects of the characters that have not been prominently featured before.
One of the features of Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is the dialogue between Bulma, Chi-Chi, and Videl regarding each character in the game, which adds a significant layer of detail. As revealed by @SLOplays on X, it turns out that Gohan’s power truly enhances when he uses Super Saiyan, confirming the longstanding belief of fans.

Super Saiyan grants Gohan an unexpected power boost in Dragon Ball
Through the anime Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero and Gohan’s actions during Dragon Ball Super, fans have seen Gohan’s transformation into Super Saiyan. Observers noted that Gohan removed his glasses because his power had improved during that moment. This clarification came when Videl confirmed that Gohan’s power was indeed enhanced while using the Super Saiyan form.
Notably, Gohan stated: “… his power is significantly better, to the point where removing the glasses makes it harder for him to see.” Therefore, the act of removing his glasses is not just a casual gesture but a reflection of Gohan’s enhanced abilities during that moment.
The Super Saiyan form greatly impacts Gohan’s eyesight and has deeper implications when considering its historical context. Previously, this transformation had been utilized by all Saiyans, and Gohan’s power boost can be seen as a significant progression. This means that Gohan’s use of the Super Saiyan form transforms him into a more formidable warrior, capable of maintaining a higher level of focus and even “forcing” himself to look beyond his limits. However, it is important to note that this transformation does not merely serve as an enhancement of physical attributes but also improves his sensory perception and reflexes.

What does this mean for Super Saiyan?
The Super Saiyan form significantly enhances all physical aspects of the Saiyan body, which is particularly noteworthy when considering how this form has been portrayed historically. However, it has never truly reached its full potential with Goku or Vegeta utilizing it. This is primarily because they do not suffer the same power reduction as Gohan during his transformation (possibly due to Gohan’s larger role in the recent story arcs), meaning Goku and Vegeta do not experience the same alterations when using the standard Super Saiyan form.
As a result, Gohan’s transformation into Super Saiyan is a much larger leap compared to his father and other characters. Goku and Vegeta quickly surpass the strength of Super Saiyan and evolve further, but this also explains why Gohan has retained the original form and has not pushed it to its limits over time. This has granted him significant advantages when using it, and it allows him to avoid feeling the need to revert to a more powerful form for an extended period, as the original Super Saiyan form has been immensely beneficial for him. He simply cannot be underestimated.
