The 2019 World Championship Champion Faces Challenges Ahead

However, one name that stands out in this transfer frenzy is LWX, who is currently facing a “downward spiral” in his career. In the Spring 2024 season, LWX is still competing for RNG, but as of now, there has been no news regarding his potential return to the 2019 Championship squad or any new contract. Furthermore, during a recent livestream, LWX’s former teammate Doinb revealed that LWX is soon to retire due to a lack of competitive opportunities in the LPL.
“To be honest, it’s very hard to see LWX still competing in the future. He won’t be playing in the LPL anymore and might only do occasional livestreams once a month. It’s quite sad to think about that, and I genuinely wonder what LWX will do to make a living afterward,” Doinb shared during a live stream.
After winning the 2019 World Championship, LWX’s achievements and performance steadily declined each season. The 2024 season has been labeled a “disaster” for LWX, as his team FPX has struggled to break into the top 10 in both the Spring and Summer splits. Currently, LWX’s RNG is ranked 14th in the LPL, which has led to LWX losing his main position to Huanfeng. As of now, this team only participates in “friendly” tournaments, such as the “Cup of Champions.”
The Uncertain Future of the 2019 World Champion
According to Doinb, LWX is someone who struggles with communicating with fans and prefers to focus solely on the game. With this personality, LWX does not fit well into the streamer role like Doinb, and he has rarely appeared live. It’s important to acknowledge that being a streamer is a profession that many players turn to after their competitive careers, but LWX seems to be facing significant challenges in finding a sustainable path post-competition.
Looking at it fairly, LWX still has a promising career ahead since he gained immense fame after winning the championship. However, it is quite disappointing that the final phase of LWX’s career has involved significant declines and he has been unable to maintain his position at RNG. This situation is undoubtedly a bittersweet ending for a player who once held the title of World Champion.
