Many Gacha Games Shut Down as We Enter the New Year
As we step into the new year, both domestic and international gaming communities are eagerly anticipating new game releases. However, amidst this excitement, numerous disappointing announcements have emerged regarding the closure of several titles. Recently, the Gacha game community has witnessed the abrupt shutdown of three prominent titles.
The games in question are Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy & The Polar Night Liberator, KonoSuba: Fantastic Days, and Soul Tide. Aside from Atelier Resleriana, the other two titles have been around for quite some time, garnering a significant fanbase both domestically and internationally. Notably, KonoSuba has been particularly active, inspired by a long-running anime of the same name.

The reasons for the shutdown of these games have been rather vague, and even the publishers have not provided any clear explanations for their decisions. Nonetheless, it is easy to understand that these Gacha games have reached their “end of life,” unable to leave any significant impact or survive in the highly competitive gaming environment today.
Current State of Gacha Games
In reality, there are still many promising Gacha games set to launch in 2025. However, looking back at the gaming landscape in 2024, titles like Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy & The Polar Night Liberator, KonoSuba: Fantastic Days, and Soul Tide are not uncommon occurrences.

Despite having hundreds of different choices, only a few Gacha games seem to thrive in the market without facing closure. Most of the current Gacha games are experiencing very low revenue. If they lack outstanding content, quality gameplay, and enthusiastic fan service… or fail to deliver unique experiences, they will find it hard to survive in the long run. From the examples of the three titles mentioned, it is evident that Gacha game publishers need to seriously invest and pay more attention to their products in the near future to avoid undesirable circumstances.
