With the rapid development of technology in recent years, game titles are increasingly being upgraded significantly in terms of storage capacity as well as other features.
This trend brings many exciting elements for players, but it also leads to a noticeable increase in storage requirements. This means that the storage size of certain games has risen dramatically, no longer limited to 30-40GB for a blockbuster as before. Furthermore, expansions and downloadable content (DLC) are also released, contributing to the growing demand for storage among gamers.
Below are the three games with the largest storage requirements on Steam, to the extent that few could possibly install all three on the same device.
God of War: Ragnarok
God of War: Ragnarok was initially released exclusively on PlayStation, but this title also appeared on PC just two years later. As a sequel to God of War 2018, God of War: Ragnarok continues the story of Kratos – the main character who must collaborate with his son Atreus to prevent the end of the world known as Ragnarok.

Maintaining the original content beloved from the PlayStation version, including high-definition graphics and engaging gameplay, God of War: Ragnarok still has a markedly increased storage requirement. This indicates that modern games need to consume significant amounts of storage to provide a rich gaming experience. The game takes up to 190GB on Steam, compared to around 84GB on the PS5.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is not the only title in the Call of Duty series that occupies a large portion of storage capacity among games. Notably, Warzone – the free-to-play game associated with Modern Warfare – also takes up a significant amount, with a total of 235GB required. While downloading Warzone helps players save on storage, if interested in both games, players will need to allocate substantial space for both on their devices.

The game does not start with a small storage requirement, as it still exceeds 100GB. However, updates and expansions have caused it to balloon to its current size.
Ark: Survival Evolved
As its name suggests, Ark: Survival Evolved is a survival game where players must gather resources, craft items, and build structures to sustain life. The distinct feature of this blockbuster is that players can tame various dinosaurs to assist in their survival and even cooperate with other players.

Importantly, Ark: Survival Evolved features a multitude of extensive expansion packs and downloadable content, which has pushed its storage requirement up to 400GB – an excessively high number that is daunting for any player.
