On the first day of the Lunar New Year, a new animated film inspired by the classic tale of Noah’s Ark will be released, marking a “new beginning” for the animated film industry in the upcoming year.
1. NOAH’S ARK
Entitled NOAH’S ARK, this film draws inspiration from the biblical story of Noah’s Ark, but with a unique twist. The main characters are not Noah himself but two little mice, Vini and Tom. Although they aren’t on the official list of animals aboard the ark, Vini and Tom brave the stormy seas to find their way and discover the “social network” aboard the ship filled with various animals, which is not a pleasant environment. They decide to make music, using their greatest talents to help their fellow passengers survive the 40-day ordeal at sea. The film is set to premiere nationwide in Vietnam on the first day of the Lunar New Year (February 10, 2024).
2. KUNG FU PANDA 4
After a six-year hiatus, the beloved animated franchise KUNG FU PANDA is set to return with its fourth installment. This time, our favorite giant panda, Po, faces new challenges as he encounters the mysterious villain Tắc Kề Hoa, who possesses rare powers that could awaken Po’s past enemies. To uncover a new legend for his role as the Dragon Warrior, Po must navigate through a “bad guy alliance.” The star-studded cast includes Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Thành Long, Dương Tử Quỳnh, and James Hong, who will reprise their iconic roles. KUNG FU PANDA 4 will premiere on March 8, 2024.
3. DESPICABLE ME 4
The animated series DESPICABLE ME, beloved worldwide, is set to return with its fourth installment this summer. While the details of DESPICABLE ME 4 remain under wraps, the cast including Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig will reprise their roles as Gru and Lucy Wilde. Additionally, the iconic Minions, known for their love of bananas, are sure to make audiences “cry tears of joy” when the film releases on July 3, 2024.
4. TRANSFORMERS ONE
The TRANSFORMERS franchise, known for its iconic robots and thrilling battles, is set to debut its first animated feature film, TRANSFORMERS ONE. This film will explore the far-off origins of the planet Cybertron and delve into the relationships between Optimus Prime and his future adversary, Megatron. The film features MCU stars Chris Hemsworth as the voice of Optimus Prime and Scarlett Johansson as Elia, the female leader of the Autobots. Brian Tyree Henry will voice the villain Megatron, while Bumblebee will be voiced by Keegan-Michael Key. The film is set to hit theaters on September 12, 2024.
5. SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3
Following the success of its two predecessors, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG is gearing up for its third installment, set to release on December 20, 2024. The film picks up right after the events of the second movie and will bring back the “trio” of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. This time, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3 will introduce a new character—Shadow the Hedgehog—promising even more thrilling adventures.
