Fans of the beloved series Hunter x Hunter have always hoped and speculated about the health of its creator, Yoshihiro Togashi, who is currently facing significant health challenges, including chronic illness. Due to this, the conclusion of the manga has become a frequent topic of discussion across various forums and social media platforms.
Recently, during an interview on the Iwakura and Yoshizumi Show by TV Asahi, the topic of Togashi’s potential conclusion to Hunter x Hunter was brought up.

When discussing the possible endings for Hunter x Hunter, Togashi has hinted at multiple endings. Although the specifics of the three different endings have not been disclosed, he classified them based on the reactions of his readers. Only the fourth ending has been elaborated upon.
Togashi stated: “Regarding the endings, I have prepared three distinct versions: A, B, and C. Based on the readers’ reactions, Ending A would fulfill 80% of expectations while Ending B would meet only 20%.”
“This does not necessarily mean a high rating, but in my opinion, the chosen ending would be a safe option, avoiding excessive criticism.” The author elaborated further.
He continued to explain: “Ending B would provoke mixed opinions, while Ending C, I estimate, would have only 10% negative feedback and 90% positive. Why would I choose an ending like this? Because while this might not be my personal preference, fundamentally, I want to create an ending that I believe is the most fitting, even if the numbers suggest otherwise.”
The fourth ending focuses on a girl named Jin, who is the granddaughter of the main character, Gon Freecss. Jin is the daughter of Gon and a woman named Noko, which means Noko represents Gon in this concluding chapter. It is also implied that the fourth ending hints at a potential marriage between Gon Freecss and Noko in the future. Togashi has stated that this particular version of the ending will be chosen if he cannot continue for much longer.

Despite being a minor character, Noko has previously appeared in both the anime and manga. Gon first encountered her while he was training to become a Hunter alongside Killua, and she had a soft spot for him as he trained.
So who is Noko? She is one of the few characters directly linked to Gon’s home on Elephant Island. In the manga and anime, Noko appears briefly in two different arcs. In the Hunter Exam arc, she greets Gon when he arrives at the train station. In the Yorknew City arc, Gon briefly meets Noko during a conversation with Killua.
Noko’s role in Hunter x Hunter could expand significantly if Yoshihiro Togashi decides to develop her character further. However, there is still very little information about her outside of her potential future with Gon.
As for Jin, she is a girl indifferent to the idea of marriage, contrary to her parents’ wishes, but she aspires to become a Hunter. Jin’s father remarks that she carries the bloodline of Gon Freecss, suggesting that she could become a renowned Hunter in the future. Her disinterest in marriage may be influenced by Noko’s lineage.
