This return will bring a fresh new look to one of the brightest casts in the DC cinematic universe. What can we expect from the new sequel?
Jason Momoa – Aquaman

In the first installment, Aquaman – Arthur Curry, played by Jason Momoa, made a lasting impression with his rugged and muscular appearance. Initially, the image of Aquaman was sculpted from when he was still a young boy until he became a powerful and noble king, a superhero. Jason Momoa has perfectly embodied the character of Aquaman.
Alongside his striking appearance, the portrayal of the “King of Atlantis” in his iconic suit and wielding the golden trident of Aquaman left a significant mark on the audience.

In the new film, Aquaman will still return with the regal image of a king. In the released images, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, after five years, looks even more majestic than before.
A new suit for Aquaman has also been unveiled right from the film’s promotional materials, enhancing the character’s more animalistic transformation.

Notably, the most exciting aspect for the audience regarding Aquaman after five years is… his fatherhood. In the trailers released, the king of Atlantis must “face” the challenges of parenting, bringing the character into a whole new light.
Patrick Wilson – Orm

In the first film, Patrick Wilson appeared as King Orm – Aquaman’s half-brother, who stood as the main antagonist aiming to claim the throne of Atlantis. Wilson portrayed Orm with a cunning, determined, and powerful demeanor.

After the events of the first installment, Orm was defeated in his battle with Aquaman and imprisoned. However, in the sequel, Orm will return and continue to play a significant role alongside his brother. No longer just an antagonist, Orm will have a love-hate relationship with Aquaman, creating a humorous dynamic between the two brothers.
With a more nuanced portrayal, Patrick Wilson brings a more relatable and “justified” version of Orm compared to the first film, engaging the audience with a more captivating narrative.
Amber Heard – Mera

In the first film, Mera, played by Amber Heard, was a prominent character with a stunning appearance that could be considered “perfect.” With striking green eyes and a fair complexion, her sculpted figure contributed to making Amber Heard one of the most beloved female characters in the DC universe, receiving numerous accolades at the time of the film’s release.

According to reports, Amber Heard will still appear in the new film as Mera. However, the character’s appearance and role in the sequel are being kept tightly under wraps.
Nicole Kidman – Atlanna

In Aquaman, Australian star Nicole Kidman plays Atlanna, the queen of Atlantis. She has a romantic relationship with a lighthouse keeper, resulting in the birth of Arthur Curry – Aquaman. Kidman’s beauty as Atlanna, along with her platinum hair, made her an iconic figure discussed and admired during Aquaman’s release.

In the trailer for the upcoming Aquaman sequel, Nicole Kidman appears only briefly in a few minor scenes. However, Kidman will still play an important supporting role that cannot be replaced in the storyline of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II – Black Manta

The character Black Manta, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, will become a main antagonist in the sequel. Black Manta’s vendetta against Aquaman intensifies after the death of his father, and he joins forces with Orm to seek revenge, although they ultimately fail.

Through the imagery revealed in the trailers, Black Manta will return with a more powerful and ruthless appearance, showcasing a transformation that solidifies his position as a formidable threat to Aquaman. With the acquisition of the powerful trident, Black Manta’s evil ambitions are set to escalate, forcing the “King of Atlantis” to do everything necessary to protect his kingdom.
AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM – titled in Vietnamese: AQUAMAN VÀ VƯƠNG QUỐC THẤT LẠC – is set to premiere on December 22, 2023, in formats including 2D, 3D, IMAX 3D, 4DX, and Screen X.
