Krafton’s “Dark and Darker” Mobile Game Set for Global Release After a Long Wait
The main highlight is the mobile version of the game Dark and Darker. It was first announced in August 2023 when Krafton obtained global licensing rights. Dark and Darker Mobile incorporates elements of RPG, Battle Royale, and Dungeon Crawling. Prior to this, the PC version of the game had made a significant splash, garnering over 63,000 positive reviews (71%) on STEAM and becoming a favorite choice among many prominent streamers.

At the beginning of August last year, Krafton continued to excite the gaming community by announcing the upcoming global release of the mobile version of Dark and Darker. After opening the beta testing phase on August 11, Krafton confirmed that the game would officially launch in October 2024. However, due to some technical difficulties, Dark and Darker Mobile has been pushed back to a 2025 release.

Just today (February 5), Dark and Darker Mobile has officially made its comeback, launching in two regions, namely the United States and Canada, creating a buzz in the gaming community. This is seen as a crucial step for the game aiming for a global launch later this year.
However, upon its launch, has Krafton faced accusations of being “too greedy”?
Despite the excitement, on its very first day of “debut,” Dark and Darker Mobile sparked controversy. The reason lies in the game’s in-app purchase (IAP) pricing, which has been deemed “unreasonably high.” Although the game is free to play, some in-game transaction packages range from $49.99 to $99.99. The lowest transaction package is $3.99, but the resources provided to players are considered insufficient.

Of course, there are still differing opinions regarding Krafton’s pricing strategy. Compared to the PC version, some gamers feel that this pricing could be accepted if Dark and Darker Mobile guarantees quality content and provides a worthwhile gaming experience.
