Project to take Ai Haibara as the “pivot” aims to bring the character’s essence into the “battle of wits” of the dark organizations. However, it also retains the familiar elements that make up the Conan brand.

The world is “buzzing” with Gin, the more you watch, the more engaging it becomes
Unlike Movie 25, the latest installment of Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine dives deep into the world of the FBI and the dark organization. Nevertheless, the film’s content is not lacking; while the action can be intense, it remains incredibly captivating and hard to predict. At the beginning of the film, the audience is left in awe at the “flexing” of Interpol as they team up with the Black Organization to unleash “heavy artillery.” The FBI supports Pacific Buoy to connect the global surveillance network, while the dark organization operates a sleek black submarine, stealthily conducting operations against their adversaries.

Even with a deep exploration of the underwater world and the intense battles akin to Black Iron Submarine, it still does not lack the “specialties” that define the Detective Conan brand. This 26th movie still contains humorous moments, such as Professor Agasa’s joyful antics or Uncle Mouri’s drunken rambling, which lightens the mood amidst the serious plot. Additionally, a small subplot involving comedic side characters adds cleverness to the film, allowing Conan and Mouri’s investigative escapades to shine through.
Alongside familiar elements, this film also provides a unique perspective on the dark organization, which remains the most dangerous in the world, yet seems… not as threatening as it once was. The overabundance of “inside men” has turned the Black Organization into a somewhat predictable entity in several scenes, where Gin is often left to deal with the “guy” who manages to escape each time. Amuro, Rena, and even Vermouth all have their own agendas to protect their main roles, while Vodka’s “foolishness” increasingly drives Gin to frustration. Additionally, the introduction of a new member, Pinga, adds an enticing twist that no one could have predicted.

Significant moments between Conan and Haibara
From the very moment the plot reveals that Haibara becomes a central character in the film Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine, fans were quite excited. However, the film does not disappoint by cleverly exploiting Haibara’s character traits and storyline, especially when she encounters Gin. Interestingly, in the film, the two characters seem to never “face off,” yet their interactions keep the audience on edge, creating tension as their fates intertwine.

Nevertheless, introducing Haibara as a main character does not diminish Conan’s role. The detective remains the “glue” connecting various storylines in the film, as well as maintaining his role as the leader in solving mysteries, interpreting clues, and opening new paths. Additionally, the relationship between Conan and Haibara becomes a bright spot in Movie 26, where the two share many intimate moments, working together and supporting each other in thrilling scenarios. By the end of the film, Haibara and Conan have a significant “moment,” which could spark debates but certainly showcases their undeniable chemistry, highlighting the allure of the Detective Conan franchise.
The film Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine also features a compelling after-credit scene. Movie 26 is thrilling and engaging, often overshadowing Movie 25’s previous plot and climax. The film’s conclusion certainly sets the stage for a series of intriguing sequels and raises questions about the survival of the “underground kingdom” of the Black Organization as they continue to face challenges.
