In the vibrant atmosphere of the Lunar New Year, a peculiar incident took place involving a young woman named Ngô residing in the Thường Tín district of China.
The story began when her younger brother brought home firecrackers
. Sitting in the living room watching television, the bright light made it difficult for Ngô to clearly see the objects around her. In the midst of her brother’s excitement, she noticed some “firecracker pellets” wrapped in colorful paper, reminiscent of the candy she used to enjoy. Without thinking, she took one, popped it in her mouth, and bit down.

Immediately after the bite, the firecracker exploded in her mouth. The loud bang shocked Ngô’s family who were watching TV. Everyone quickly turned to see what had just happened.
“The initial feeling was one of numbness, followed by a strange scent of burning and smoke,” Ngô recalled the moment the firecracker detonated in her mouth.
Although she experienced some pain and discomfort, fortunately, Ngô did not suffer any serious injuries. After the initial shock wore off, she was able to eat and maintain her oral hygiene normally.
It’s worth noting that the firecracker her brother brought home was of the “exploding” type. This kind of firecracker often detonates when subjected to impact or simply by being thrown onto a hard surface.
Regarding the incident, Ngô hopes that no one else will encounter such a dangerous situation. She also wishes that manufacturers would pay more attention to product packaging, avoiding designs that could lead to unfortunate accidents. The incident quickly spread across social media, sparking numerous discussions.

Many people expressed sympathy for Ngô and believed that product packaging could lead to such hazardous effects. Several suggestions indicated that there should be clearer warnings on the packaging of potentially dangerous products like firecrackers.
“There should be a clear warning label about the dangers; if children consume or bite them, the consequences could be severe,” one commenter noted.
“The appearance of these firecracker pellets is very similar to candy, which could cause misunderstandings,” another remarked.
“It’s easy to mislead someone; if they hand it to me, I would also think it’s candy.”
