After a prolonged silence, the horror film franchise “Insidious” has officially returned, unveiling the first trailer for its next installment titled “Insidious: The Red Door.” Previously referred to as “Fear of the Dark,” this film will once again revolve around the Lambert family from the first two films, introducing new terrifying elements that the family must confront.
The sequel, “Insidious: Chapter 2,” continued the haunting events of the original film, where Josh was possessed by a malevolent spirit after returning from the Further. Meanwhile, the third and fourth installments of this franchise took a different narrative approach, focusing on events that occurred before the first film and not directly involving the Lambert family. The Lambert characters previously led a peaceful life, but as the “Insidious: The Red Door” trailer reveals, dark entities from the spirit world are now re-emerging, bringing chaos back into their lives.

The storyline of this new film will take place 10 years after the Lambert family first became targets of vengeful spirits. Young Dalton is now preparing to enter college, and Renai and Josh are no longer concerned about supernatural events. Unfortunately, Dalton once again becomes the target of a dark force, compelling his parents to venture back into the Further one last time, where his fate is closely tied to the spirit realm.
In addition to the return of the Lambert family, “The Red Door” will also mark the directorial debut of Patrick Wilson. Wilson’s experience as a horror film actor is expected to provide him with a unique perspective behind the camera, offering the audience a different viewing experience compared to previous films. Furthermore, this will be the first film in the “Insidious” franchise not written by Leigh Whannell. Scheduled for a worldwide release on July 7, 2023, “Insidious: The Red Door” promises to deliver a chilling continuation of this beloved horror series.
