In recent years, the Pokémon trading card game has become a hot topic among the gaming community.
This phenomenon stems from the increasing value of rare trading cards, particularly from titles like Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering, which have seen significant spikes in recent years. Some rare cards have even reached prices in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. It’s worth noting that not every card can command these high prices.

The Pokémon trading card store, Enter The Battlefield, has become a hub of excitement, especially with the help of a lottery-style game that draws in players.
Specifically, on September 18, 2024, Enter The Battlefield hosted an event featuring approximately 300 Pokémon cards up for grabs. According to security footage, an individual entered the store by smashing the front glass door and made off with a significant amount of cash, along with trading cards from both Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon valued at around $150,000 (nearly 4 billion VND).

Following this incident, two Pokémon trading card stores in Barrie, Ontario, reported significant losses. The main character in this story, a sales associate, quickly noticed that the cards had been stolen during the earlier incident. After realizing the theft, he promptly alerted the local police while also seeking ways to ensure the security of the remaining inventory. According to reports, the sales associate was in a state of panic, “sweating bullets,” and managed to keep his composure for about 30-40 minutes before the police arrived.

This incident also served as a wake-up call for local law enforcement, prompting them to increase vigilance against similar crimes. Subsequently, 25% of the stolen cards were recovered, valued at nearly $40,000 (around 1 billion VND).
