One Piece is currently in the Final Saga, with the Elbaf arc taking place and some very intriguing information being revealed. Only the time remains before Oda starts to unveil the exciting storylines.
Now, One Piece Volume 111 has officially launched, helping fans learn more about the entire world that Oda has created. Specifically, Oda has revealed the name of the planet that One Piece is set in, providing fans with an idea of what to expect from the world of the story in the future.
The World of One Piece as Fans Know It
When discussing the world of One Piece, fans are well aware that the story takes place on a vast planet that resembles Earth. Although there are similarities, it is not completely identical. The planet in the One Piece universe is larger and greener.
This planet is characterized by the Red Line, a massive mountain range that runs vertically from North to South, similar to the equator. The Red Line is very high compared to sea level, forming a natural barrier that separates the two sides of the Grand Line. In reality, the Red Line is composed of many islands, each with its own weather and unique seasons, as previously detailed by Nami in chapter 604 of One Piece.

The first half of the Grand Line extends from the mountain range down to the base of the Red Line. Although it doesn’t have a name, it is often referred to as “Paradise” by those who have ventured into the Grand Line.
The second half of the Grand Line stretches from the opposite side of the Red Line to the other side of the mountain range, referred to as the New World. The New World is often called the “hazardous sea” because it is home to dangerous phenomena such as Marine Fortresses and the Four Emperors.
At the center of the Red Line is the city of Mary Geoise – the capital of the World Government. To cross the Red Line and reach the New World, ships must obtain permission from the World Government to pass through the city of Mary Geoise, which essentially means that the ship’s captain must relinquish control of their vessel.
Alternatively, a more perilous route involves using a special type of plant-based resin to create a bubble-like shield, transforming the ship into a submersible that can dive deep below 10,000 meters, traversing the sea floor to reach the New World.
Additionally, there are two expansive sea routes that run parallel to the Red Line, known as the Calm Belts. There is no wind in the Calm Belts, and they are notorious for being the domain of the Sea Kings.
If one wishes to avoid traversing the Calm Belt, there is still a secondary route to enter the Grand Line, which is the meeting point between the Grand Line and the Red Line, known as Reverse Mountain. A unique current flows upward from beneath the sea to the top of the mountain. If a ship enters this current, it will rise to the peak of the mountain and then descend through a path leading down to the Grand Line, essentially transforming the ship into a super-speeding vessel, and not just any ship can accomplish this feat.

The world is divided into four major sections: East Blue, West Blue, North Blue, and South Blue. There are many islands across the entire world of One Piece, but the majority are encompassed by the Grand Line, making this world appear incredibly diverse.
Oda Reveals the Name of the One Piece Planet
Do you know? The world of One Piece also has a unique name. In fact, this has been subtly hinted at throughout the story, mentioned in a cover page. Now, Oda has officially revealed the name of the planet for fans. Here’s what Oda said in the SBS (Shitsumon o Boshū Suru) segment of One Piece Volume 111:
Question: Odacchi, hello! In chapter 987, the tree that Roger and Oden look at is called Tequila Wolf? Or Bourbon Wolf? And what is the name of the planet that Luffy and the others are sailing on?
Eiichiro Oda: What? Are you focusing on the latter? Uuuh, the planet is called “Green Planet.” And the tree that Oden saw… is not Tequila Wolf!! How do I know? I won’t say it’s Bourbon Wolf. But it’s definitely not “Tequila Wolf.” That’s my answer! We discovered that there are four trees in chapter 1125, so you can’t know the answer from chapter 967. But looking back, why do I think that? Truly wonderful.
As Oda clearly stated, the One Piece world has a unique name, and it is referred to as Blue Star/Planet. Fans can theorize that this world has distinct features compared to Earth, as they have already observed from its geography. At the same time, it can also be said that life outside the planet has been confirmed to exist in One Piece. Fans could also argue that the planet discussed in the cover story of Enel is indeed the planet where the story takes place.
History of Blue Star in One Piece
Those who have read One Piece closely should be well aware that the chapters involving extraterrestrial beings do not necessarily depict the natural inhabitants of Blue Star. The chapters depict beings that originate from the moon, with one of the cities named Birka. However, after the resources on the moon became scarce, they migrated to Blue Star and settled down.
The chapters feature characters living in various locations across the world and possessing advanced technology that isn’t found on Earth. The Shandians live on the Blue Planet, while the Skypieans inhabit a sky island known as Skypiea, and the Birkan people inhabit an island on the moon named Birka, named after the city on the moon.

Unfortunately, Birka was ultimately destroyed by Enel eight years prior, after he conquered the moon. After that, the moon eventually turned into Fairy Vearth, revealing the mysteries of the ancient civilization and the true origins of the moon itself, understanding the devastation of the entire world during this period.
In the meantime, many legends about Blue Star have been revealed in the Elbaf arc, where it is clearly stated that the world has been destroyed twice before, once in the Celestial Kingdom and once a long time before that.
Vegapunk suggested in the Egghead arc that the world had submerged 200 meters beneath the Grand Line in the Celestial Kingdom. Clearly, the world of One Piece still holds many secrets and mysteries lying dormant in the first and second world. Hopefully, Oda will soon provide detailed explanations about them, possibly in the Elbaf arc, or perhaps after this, as Luffy and the crew get closer to discovering the truth of the entire world.
