The “Bombshell” Signing of VKE Shakes the VCS Community
As we approach the end of 2024 and the transition into the new year, teams are scrambling to “make a splash” with their rosters for the new season. Recently, the VCS has been rocked by a significant “bombshell” signing as MGN Vikings Esports officially announced the acquisition of SwordArt – a former rival of SofM, who will be part of this roster in the 2025 season.

This signing is a significant event for the VCS community. Although the league has been through a rough patch, the presence of both SwordArt and SofM—who both have extensive international experience in the Worlds—adds a new level of excitement. Furthermore, SwordArt’s reputation might be a bit overstated in the LPL, but in the APAC region, he is seen as a true icon.
Moreover, according to several discussions among fans, SwordArt’s joining SofM’s team may have a significant impact on their synergy. They were close allies during their time at Suning. Additionally, before joining VKE, he had just departed from CBTC Flying Oyster. Therefore, his transition into VKE and continued effort in the LCP 2025 is entirely reasonable.

The Role of SwordArt with VKE and VCS
Currently, it is unclear whether SofM will be able to showcase his skills in the VCS. However, SwordArt’s presence could significantly enhance the team’s competitive aspect. In the current VCS, there are few players with the same level of experience as SwordArt in the support role.
Furthermore, during his time in the LPL, SwordArt demonstrated strategic insight, acting as one of the primary shot-callers alongside SofM. His experience could provide a broader perspective compared to the insights offered by SofM and his coaching staff in their previous outings.

VCS fans can expect that SwordArt’s addition will contribute significantly as they open a new chapter for VCS teams, allowing newcomers to engage in various roles but all contributing to the growth of League of Legends in Vietnam.
