Finally, the anime adaptation of the popular video game NieR: Automata, titled NieR: Automata Ver1.1a, produced by A-1 Pictures, has been officially released to audiences. The series focuses on the story of androids 2B, 9S, and A2 as they battle against the relentless destruction caused by powerful machines. However, it seems that this adaptation does not fully satisfy the fans’ expectations.
Promotional videos for NieR: Automata Ver1.1a appeared over a week before the show began airing. However, it left viewers feeling disappointed, hinting at a production process that seems to have gone awry, as it failed to deliver a quality experience.

Previously, A-1 Pictures had to deal with quality concerns related to animation in 86: Eighty-Six. However, these issues included everything from poor cinematography, overuse of static frames, lack of sound in critical scenes, and insufficient detail. As a result, the final episodes of the show took several months to complete, causing frustration among fans.

Now, with the project NieR: Automata Ver1.1a, this animated adaptation has been met with mixed reactions from dedicated fans of the franchise, describing it as “not terrifying” compared to the original game. Aside from its iconic characters, the animation studio A-1 Pictures decided to utilize 3DCG for all the significant elements in this series. This means that A-1 Pictures has opted for a method that saves time and resources.
However, the quality that it brings is not high, making fans feel that the overall quality is quite low, failing to satisfy the visual expectations.

Here are some comments criticizing the quality of the animation in NieR: Automata Ver1.1a from disappointed fans:
– I am a fan of the NieR: Automata brand, and I find the quality of this anime very disappointing.
– I have been waiting for the NieR: Automata anime for so long, and now I feel really let down by this release!
– I feel sorry for the fans who have waited for this adaptation. Deep down, I hope for a better animated version.
– The NieR: Automata anime looks very mediocre.
– The opening segment is just a rehash of scenes from the game with very little new content.
– I cannot ignore the disappointment that this anime brings me; all the adaptations of Square Enix feel lackluster when they transition to animation.
– I can only warn others about the production quality; please wait for a different “86: Eighty-Six.” And the most important thing is to have reliable information that it will run for 24 episodes.
– The CGI in NieR: Automata looks like a video game from two decades ago, quite outdated.
– The anime adaptation of NieR: Automata is really not terrifying. It feels like the episodes are just stitched together with significant moments from the video game. Yet they are just bland versions of those iconic moments.
