In today’s modern age, cosmetic surgery has become less of a taboo subject. Particularly, the practice of double eyelid surgery has been increasingly embraced, with many women sharing their experiences and inspiring others.
Todoroki, a 30-year-old woman known as the “Surgery Goddess of Japan,” exemplifies this trend. Recently, Todoroki made a video sharing her journey of undergoing eyelid surgery, which garnered significant interest and attention.
It’s known that during her time as a high school student, Todoroki had a charming appearance but faced several challenges, including issues with her eyes, nose, and teeth. These factors led to her being bullied by classmates, who often referred to her with derogatory names.
Initially, she attributed her struggles to her shy personality, but she later recognized that her peers, who had more conventionally attractive features, made her feel insecure. Since then, Todoroki has researched cosmetic surgery and performed her first “double eyelid” procedure at the age of 18.
Discussing her decision to change her appearance, Todoroki believes that while many seek cosmetic surgery to enhance their attractiveness, her motivation was to gain a “normal appearance” and to regain her sense of self-confidence.
Since her first surgery, Todoroki has spent a total of 13 million yen (approximately $120,000) over the past 12 years and has undergone numerous procedures to achieve her desired look.
Currently, she has transformed into a beautiful woman with large eyes, fair skin, and a slim figure. Additionally, she is proud to be a YouTube content creator with around 406,000 subscribers, making her one of the most popular figures discussing cosmetic surgery in Japan.
Despite facing criticism regarding her cosmetic surgery journey, the 30-year-old remains optimistic, believing that one day the culture of cosmetic surgery will be normalized in Japan, similar to other countries like South Korea and China.
On her YouTube channel, this surgery goddess not only discusses the benefits of cosmetic surgery for achieving an attractive appearance but also addresses the pain, recovery time, and potential risks associated with these procedures.
In an interview with Oricon magazine, Todoroki stated: “For me, cosmetic surgery is a ‘tool’ to enhance my appearance, and I believe I am getting closer to a normal appearance like everyone else.”
However, it’s not always a smooth journey. I have experienced failed surgeries, and I think it’s essential to discuss the realities of cosmetic surgery openly,” she added.
