On the official website of the live-action adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Soichiro Yamamoto, Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san (Japanese: Takagi-san, the Master of Teasing), the first promotional video has been unveiled for the upcoming project. The video showcases various scenes from the original manga, featuring teen actors Rui Tsukishima as Takagi and Soya Kurokawa as Nishikata.
The live-action Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san will be filmed at Shoudou, located in Kagawa Prefecture. The film’s storyline closely follows the source material from the manga, capturing the essence of the characters’ daily lives and likely including many beloved moments for fans. The main content revolves around the daily adventures of the “teasing couple,” Takagi and Nishikata.
The film is set to premiere in March 2024 in Japan. Japanese television networks will broadcast the film weekly at 12:58 AM every Thursday (according to Japan time). In addition, Netflix will be responsible for distributing the film globally, though it has not yet confirmed whether the release date will coincide with the Japanese premiere.

The new promotional video has already attracted various discussions from the Japanese online community:
- It seems that it will be quite different from the manga and anime, but for me, the direction looks much better.
- The dialogue and chemistry between the two leads look absolutely wonderful.
- Just after watching the promotional video, I already want to see the full film!
- I feel like it has a very nostalgic vibe; I really like it!
Souichiro Yamamoto first published the original manga through Shogakukan’s Monthly Shonen Sunday magazine from June 2013 to October 2024. The work has inspired a 12-episode anime adaptation produced by Shin-Ei Animation, directed by Hiroaki Akagi and scripted by Michiko Yokote.
The anime premiered in January 2018, with a second season airing in July 2019 and a third season consisting of 12 episodes released in January 2022. Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san has received very positive feedback in the Japanese market and across Asia.
