Episode 13 of the anime Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 has garnered significant attention from fans, especially due to the intense battle between Yuji and Choso. The direction, animation, fight scenes, and the storyline of this episode have heightened the expectations of fans regarding what will unfold next.
However, the praise quickly turned into criticism when Episode 13 was released on October 26. The latest episode failed to meet the standards set by its predecessors, leading to a wave of backlash within the fan community.
Although there was no official mention of who directed the episodes in the anime, it was revealed that Hokuto Sadamoto is the director of this particular episode. This revelation has sparked considerable debate focused on Sadamoto.

In response to the criticism, Sadamoto took to his official Twitter account to address the concerns and offered an apology regarding the episode. He stated that he had to complete 250 scenes within two weeks, which complicated the working conditions and schedule for the production of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 at MAPPA studio. He expressed regret for not being able to polish the images during the specified timeframe.
Sadamoto also admitted that he had to cut parts of the story due to the tight deadline, which he regretted deeply. He acknowledged that it was necessary to allocate time for creating a better viewing experience before handing the project over to the animated film director.
He stated: “Don’t you think viewers today are becoming increasingly demanding, to the extent that anime fans nowadays even get to the level of holding studios accountable? The names of directors and all the details should be accurately represented. The lack of clarity surrounding the credits has made changing the name rather significant. Yes, yes, I apologize for not being able to adjust 250 scenes in two weeks.”
The director also expressed his feelings on Twitter regarding the feedback and the clear misunderstanding about his involvement in the episode. He was happy to know that viewers enjoyed seeing him take on the role of the character who bears the responsibility for the animation of a particular segment of the Weekly Shonen Jump program, whether it was due to a wrong choice or not.
After that, Sadamoto expressed his regret about the initial responses to the episode, admitting that his team was quite overwhelmed and he apologized for any attempts to conceal his name, indicating that it was unfortunate.
“Viewers surely felt quite pleased to see someone dedicated to helping the production team get back on track, especially when it comes to the best aspects of the anime Weekly Shonen Jump, merely due to one wrong choice. I realized from the very beginning that I had to pursue a strategy to adapt.” Sadamoto further shared.

The director’s response has received widespread support from the fan community of Jujutsu Kaisen, but those who understand the challenges he faced during the production process have also praised his sincerity. While he may not be satisfied with the thirteenth episode, fans continue to express their appreciation and support for Sadamoto.
It’s important to note that the anime industry often faces challenges related to tight deadlines and high production demands. Fans have recognized these issues and shown their understanding, thus demonstrating their continued support for Sadamoto in his future endeavors.
