Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has introduced Uchiha Sarada and other characters into a new world filled with imminent dangers as they face the Divine Trees. The climax of chapter 20 has revealed Sarada unlocking her Mangekyo Sharingan.
In the final chapters of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, it has been disclosed that Sarada had opened this formidable ability but was unaware of it herself. Over the years, Sarada has matured amid the events of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations and the subsequent series Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
Now, as she embarks on a dangerous mission to the Sand Village and encounters two Divine Trees, the escalating situation has triggered her latent powers once again.
Boruto Unlocks Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan
In chapter 20 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, we see Ryu and Mitsuki along with others, unable to contain their concerns for Sarada as she begins to unveil all the information regarding Boruto. Yodo also seeks for Sarada to step up.
Sarada is determined not to back down. Yodo realizes that Sarada is protecting the name of the rogue ninja because Boruto is someone she wants to keep safe, even at the risk of their world being thrown into chaos, similar to how Shinki confronted Yodo.

As a result, Yodo wants to turn the situation into a pawn for Ryu. Ryu, however, is unfazed and immediately comes to the forefront, catching Sarada off guard. In this precarious scenario, Yodo mentions that Sarada is still trying to conceal her true powers. He tells her that it doesn’t matter if she uses her abilities to protect the people she cares about (implying Boruto), rather than for a “greater good.” At this point, Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan is fully activated.
What New Abilities Does Sarada’s Sharingan Possess in Boruto?
Despite having inadvertently activated her Mangekyo Sharingan during the concluding events of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, it is only in the latest chapter that she truly unlocks its capabilities. The powers released from Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan operate very differently compared to those of her father, Uchiha Sasuke.

When Sarada throws a Kunai, Ryu’s technique unexpectedly draws in a singular target, rendering her an exceptional weapon in non-lethal situations. It seems to function similarly to a black hole.

This chapter concludes just as the characters are about to face significant challenges involving Sarada’s newfound abilities. While readers have yet to see her utilize this power in combat, it raises the question of what will unfold next. Sarada has never used this potential before, and with time passing, it has reached a point where she might even have to deploy it. It remains unclear whether it bears any weaknesses like other users of the Sharingan, but it is certain she will test it in the upcoming battles.
