The Game Currently Making Waves: Atelier Yumia – An Iconic JRPG Title
For those unfamiliar, Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land is the 26th installment in the long-running JRPG franchise that has been captivating players since its inception in 1997. As it expanded onto PC platforms, the Atelier series has grown increasingly diverse, notably with the success of the Atelier Ryza trilogy. The latest installment, Atelier Yumia, has recorded the highest player count on Steam to date, though not everyone is entirely satisfied.

Remarkably, the game has just set a new milestone with over 14,000 players during its opening weekend.
This figure surpasses the peak player count of Ryza 3 by over 50% compared to Atelier Resleriana, which launched on mobile platforms and only appeared on Steam last January. However, initial reviews on Steam have been mixed. Only 64% of players have given positive feedback, with many comments focusing on performance issues. Numerous users have reported severe frame drops and lag even on mid-range systems.

Apart from technical issues, some players are dissatisfied with changes compared to previous titles. The crafting and item management system—hallmarks of the Atelier series—has been simplified to the point where it detracts from the creative process, shifting the focus towards resource gathering rather than encouraging innovative creation. Additionally, the real-time combat system, which was introduced in the Ryza series, has been expanded in Yumia, causing division among fans. Nevertheless, not all feedback has been negative. The storyline has received high praise, and many players still commend the character creation system, allowing for robust customization if players dedicate time to it. There is hope that Koei Tecmo will soon address these technical concerns to enhance the overall gaming experience.

Atelier Yumia is currently available on Steam for approximately 1.4 million VND. If you want to experience it firsthand, you can download the demo from the game’s store page, which may also transition to the full version soon.
