(Ho Chi Minh City, March 29, 2025) – A strategic partnership between three parties aims to bring high-quality game titles to the Vietnamese market, starting with the official launch of the mobile version of MU Online, named MU Lục Địa, developed by VNG in April 2025.

During the signing ceremony, Mr. Richard Yangki Song, Deputy CEO of Webzen – the owner of the MU Online IP, expressed gratitude towards VNGGames for their selection: “Webzen has been creating iconic game titles like MU Online since 2001, paving the way for the development of the IP ecosystem with development studios since 2014. To this day, we are focused on collaborating with local publishers to enhance services and meet the demands of local players. After many successful collaborations, Webzen has great confidence in the understanding of the market and the professional operational capacity of VNGGames. Southeast Asia is a strategic market for us to expand the MU product line, and partnering with leading publishers in the region is the key to achieving our target objectives. With this collaboration, Webzen is not only aiming for business success but also committed to developing a sustainable MU ecosystem.”

During the event, many testers had the opportunity to experience MU Lục Địa from VNG ahead of its open beta launch on April 3.
MU Online was first launched by Webzen in South Korea in 2001, during a time when MMORPGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games) were rapidly evolving. Featuring pioneering 3D isometric graphics, the game not only provided a vast and immersive world but also combined various gameplay elements, contributing to shaping the gameplay style of many subsequent MMORPGs.

MU Lục Địa from VNG is the official mobile version of MU Online, developed by Kingnet with modern technology while retaining the original spirit of the legendary game. Previously, when it was launched under the name MU Monarch in South Korea and Southeast Asia, the game achieved significant success, reaching the top position among the most popular games in South Korea – a testament to the enduring appeal of the MU brand.
Mr. Zhao Fan, Director of Operations at Kingnet – the developer of MU Lục Địa, remarked, “Vietnam is a market full of potential for the MU game series, and we believe that the collaboration among the three parties will bring a new experience for gamers. Webzen owns the original IP with top-notch quality, Kingnet excels in research & development with experience in operating MU products in the local market, while VNGGames is the leading publisher with the capacity to localize and engage with the gaming community effectively. With MU Lục Địa, we look forward to laying the groundwork for many future strategic collaborations.”

Regarding the launch plan, VNGGames will implement promotional activities in phases. During the open beta period, VNGGames will host a series of welcoming events and special programs to attract and build the gaming community. In the long term, the game will continuously receive content updates, focusing on player experience, while also expanding the event system with large-scale tournaments to maintain engagement and develop the gaming community through virtual platforms and interactive activities.

Mr. Lã Xuân Thắng, Director of Publishing at VNGGames – the publisher of MU Lục Địa in Vietnam shared: “VNGGames is very grateful for the trust that the partners have placed in us. We always strive to bring the best gaming experiences to Vietnamese users with the hottest games globally, while continuing to build a healthy gaming community that fosters connections. With the strong collaboration among the three parties and the commitment to the MU Online brand community, I believe MU Lục Địa from VNG will be one of the leading MMORPGs in Vietnam in the near future.”
