While iconic titles like Final Fantasy XIV and World of Warcraft continue to fiercely compete in the MMORPG genre, new games from South Korea are emerging to shape the landscape – notably Throne and Liberty from NCSoft and Lost Ark from Smilegate.
Recently, a new “warrior” is set to step into this fierce battleground. This anticipated title is Odin: Valhalla Rising – a free-to-play MMORPG inspired by the mythology of Northern Europe, officially announced to launch globally on April 29th.

Developed by Lionheart Studio and published by Kakao Games, Odin: Valhalla Rising has already made a significant impact in South Korea and several Asian markets, attracting over 17 million players.
As it prepares for a global launch, the game promises to enhance the overall experience through character customization, immersive environments, and user-friendly interfaces. Players can register early to secure their favorite character names and choose from various pre-launch rewards, including unique Viking-style outfits and exclusive mounts. Odin: Valhalla Rising aims to deliver a rich exploration experience in an interconnected world, without the limitations of traditional game realms when venturing into dungeons.

Initially, Odin: Valhalla Rising will feature four character classes: Warrior, Rogue, Sorceress, and Priest. The developers also plan to introduce additional classes after the official launch. A major highlight of Odin is the “Battle of Valhalla” – epic 30 vs. 30 battles between two factions that require strategic cooperation to emerge victorious. Furthermore, the game will include all the familiar elements of MMORPGs: from dungeons to raids, and a variety of PvE and PvP activities. Even though it incorporates a “solo play” feature to support simpler activities, Lionheart Studio emphasizes that Odin will still encourage player interaction through cooperative missions, dynamic events, and avoiding dangerous boss encounters.

Odin: Valhalla Rising is set for a global release on April 29, available on both PC and mobile devices. This presents an opportunity for players to immerse themselves in the mythos of Northern Europe and engage in a cross-platform MMORPG experience, blending familiar gameplay mechanics with fresh innovations.
